Drunk Elephant The Littles Set

I have heard so many great things about the brand Drunk Elephant. I have never tried their products, exempt for a sample of one of their face creams which I did enjoy. The brand is expensive, so I can’t really justify buying their products to test out.  I saw this set and I figured it’d be a great way to try some of their products and find out what works for me and what doesn’t.

A travel-friendly set of must-haves for youthful, glowing skin that’s a D.E.-tour from the ordinary.

A travel-friendly set of must-haves for youthful, glowing skin that’s a D.E.-tour from the ordinary.

I hesitated about it since it retails for $100 CAD. They had some smaller sets with two of the little bottles, one retails for $29 CAD and the other for $38 CAD. I was planning on getting the $29 one which contains the C-firma day serum and the B-Hydra intensive hydration gel. After walking up aand down the store and thinking about it, I ended up getting The Littles set, it’s more money but you get more products to test out.

Tartelette in Bloom Romantic Look!

Hi everyone! I created a look for valentines day using the Tartelette in Bloom Palette. I love this palette, I’ve had it for a year and I still use it and all the time! I thought it’d be nice to create a warm romantic look with it for valentines.

I applied the shade Charmer (1) all over the lid as a base. I went in with Sweetheart (2) on the crease and upper crease. Then I used the shade Rebel (3) in the outer corners and half way in the crease. And lastly I applied Funny Girl on the lid (4).

I love the way it turned out. I always end up going for a dark or smokey look when I use this palette, I’m just drawn to the right side of the palette more.

Face: LA Girl Pro Coverage foundation, Elf Perfect Finish HD powder, Tarte Amazonia Clay blush in Paaarty, Colourpop highlighter in Smoke N Whistles, Sephora Setting spray.

Eyes: Tartelette in Bloom, Nano liquid liner by Absolute, Essence The False Lashes mascara, Essence Make me Brow in browny brows.

Lips: Essence Lip liner in Satin Mauve, Colourpop liquid lipstick in Bianca.

Thank you for reading and have a great weekend!

Sinful Colors – Haute Koffee

Hi guys! This week I’m wearing the Kylie Matte collection by Sinful Colors in the shade Haute Koffee. Check my nails from last week .

You’ll warm up to this deliciously brown metallic shade. Bold, Vibrant, Must-have color. Toluene, Formaldehyde & DBP free.

Even though it’s supposed to be matte, this shade contains little shimmery sparkles. I always add a top coat so it gets rid of the matte finish a little bit. The website describes it as a brown metallic shade but it looks more like a dark burgundy shade to me.

I actually really like this shade. I like it better than the dark purple shade I was wearing last week. You can use a matte top coat to keep the matte finish or no top coat at all, I don’t mind that mine added some gloss to it.

Have you tried any of the Kylie Collection shades? Thanks for reading!

L.A Girl mini haul!

Hi everyone!

I recently purchased a few products by L.A. Girl, I’ve never tried their makeup and was curious about it. I’ve heard good things about their concealers but they had run out of shades that would work for me. They had a sale of 3 for $5 so, I figured it was worth to try it for that price.

I got the Pro face HD high definition matte pressed powder in the shade medium beige. I hope it’s not too dark for me, I was able to swatch it and compare it to other shades but Im still not sure if I picked the right shade.

Get a flawless finish with PRO.face Matte Pressed Powder. This long wearing, oil controlling formula can be applied alone for a soft radiant look or over liquid foundation for fuller coverage.

I also got the Pro Coverage HD high definition long wear illuminating foundation. They picked such long names for their products haha. I wasnt able to swatch this in store so I had to just grab what I thought could work. I picked the shade beige.

PRO. covered high-definition long wear illuminating liquid foundation is ideal for a flawless looking, full coverage finish. Lightweight formula is comfortable for all day wear. Paraben free formula with added antioxidants helps hydrate and improve the skin's appearance.

And lastly, I grabbed one of their flat velvet lipsticks in the shade Relentless. I’m not sure how often I’ll wear this lipstick since the shade is a bright red and I either wear a darker shade or nude lips, but I’ll test out the consistency and wear.

Matte Flat Velvet lipstick comes in 26 bold shades that are rich in pigment and filled with moisture. With added Shea Butter to hydrate lips and a soft, smooth application, your lips will feel as gorgeous as they look.

And that’s it! I’m going to test the lipstick soon, as lipsticks are my favorite makeup items and if it performs well, I might pick up more shades. Have you guys tried these products? Let me know what you think in the comments below! Thank you for reading !

Yes Please Palette Romantic Look!

Hi everyone!

I purchased the Yes Please Palette a couple of months ago.  Check my review here . This is a bold and bright palette, perfect for the spring of summer, but you’re still able to create some more wearable or every day looks for any occasion. I wanted to create a simple and romantic look for valentines as it’s quickly approaching.

I used the shade Full Zip (1) as a base. I applied the shade Champs (2) on the crease and above the crease. Then I applied the shade Note to Self (3) all over the lid. I wanted some shimmer and dabbed my finger into the shade Bling (4) but only added enough to give the look a bit of shimmer, they perform better when applied with fingers. Then I gently dipped my brush in the shade French Kiss (5)  and tapped my brush more than usual to make sure to add very little at a time as I didn’t want to darken the look much.

I love the way it turned out. This is honeslty the very first subtle look I’ve created with this palette, and I should keep playing with it to create some more.

Face: Maybelline better skin foundation, Kat Von D lock it concealer , HD translucent powder, Tartelette contour palette volume 11 (contour, blush, highlighter), rainforest of the sea setting mist.

Eyes: Colourpop Yes Please Palette, Essence False Lashes mascara, Essence brow gel in browny brows.

Lips: Essence lip liner in shade Satin Mauve, Colourpop matte liquid lipsticks in shade Alyssa.

I hope you guys liked the look, let me know what you think in the comments! I want to create a couple more romantic looks using two other palettes for valentines. Thank you guys for reading!

This Month in Books

One of my new years resolutions was to read more this year. I didn’t really set a goal of how many books to read, but I definitely wanted to do better than the 2 or 3 books I read last year. I have done pretty good in the month of January and I hope to keep it up for the rest of the year. Here are the books I read:

Stephen King – Finder’s Keepers

I started reading this one around November and it took me so long to finish it. I really enjoyed it but I had lost the discipline of picking up a book every day or night to read. Even though I was into the story and was intrigued to know more, it took me a few weeks to read it everyday and remember to pick it up. I read the last half of it in less than week afterwards. This is my favorite read this month.

“Wake up, genius.” So begins King’s instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, an iconic author who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn’t published a book for decades. Morris Bellamy is livid, not just because Rothstein has stopped providing books, but because the nonconformist Jimmy Gold has sold out for a career in advertising. Morris kills Rothstein and empties his safe of cash, yes, but the real treasure is a trove of notebooks containing at least one more Gold novel.

Morris hides the money and the notebooks, and then he is locked away for another crime. Decades later, a boy named Pete Saubers finds the treasure, and now it is Pete and his family that Bill Hodges, Holly Gibney, and Jerome Robinson must rescue from the ever-more deranged and vengeful Morris when he’s released from prison after thirty-five years.

John Christopher – The Tripods, The White Mountains
My boyfriend gave to this one to me for Christmas. He remembered reading it as a kid and he thought it’d enjoy reading it. It’s targeted to younger readers, but I still enjoyed it. It took me a week to read it, it’s a small book. I’m not crazy about the Sci-fi genre but the story was interesting. I might buy the other two books, they’re only $9.99CAD

Monstrous machines rule the Earth, but a few humans are fighting for freedom in this repackaged start to a classic alien trilogy ideal for fans of Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave.

Will Parker never dreamed he would be the one to rebel against the Tripods. With the approach of his thirteenth birthday, he expected to attend his Capping ceremony as planned and to become connected to the Tripods—huge three-legged machines—that now control all of Earth. But after an encounter with a strange homeless man called Beanpole, Will sets out for the White Mountains, where people are said to be free from the control of the Tripods.

Joy Fielding – She’s not there

I have read a few books by Joy Fielding, and I was excited when my boyfriend got me two of her books for Christmas. I thought it was a murder mystery kind of book but it’s more of a family drama. I enjoyed the story, and felt myself getting watery eyes at some point.

A lifetime ago, every year Caroline Shipley looked forward to her wedding anniversary. But then a celebratory trip to Mexico for the occasion with her husband and friends ended in the unsolved kidnapping of her infant daughter, Samantha. Now, fifteen years after that horrific time, divorced and isolated, Caroline is forced to relive the kidnapping by reporters who call every year on the anniversary of Samantha’s disappearance. However, this year when the phone rings, Caroline hears the sweet voice of a girl claiming to be her long-lost daughter.
Plunged  back into the world of heartbreak, suspicion and questions that led the case to run cold so many years ago, Caroline doesn’t know what or who to believe. But when she starts to figure it out, she finds the answers dangerously close to home.

I really enjoyed going back to reading, I have already started another one that I will include for February. I dont know what books to go for after that so please leave any recommendations in the comments below, I’d appreciate it! Thank you for reading, have a great week!

Dirty Works Buttery Salt Scrub Review!

Hi guys!

Today I’m reviewing this Dirty Works Glow Girl Buttery Salt Scrub. This brand can be found in Winners in Canada and I believe it retails for about $10. This was a gift so I’m not completely certain of the price but the brand overall is affortable. It contains 300ml/10.1 fl oz.

Polish dry, dull skin with this hardworking exfoliator which combines Sea Salt, Pumice and Peach Stone granules to completely resurface and refine the skin. The addition of Shea Butter helps to replenish lost moisture and restore skin back to its silky smooth self.

It contains sea salt, pumice and peach stone granules. Pumice is formed when hot lava mixes with water and hardens, resulting in a porous and abrasive stone perfect for sloughing away dry skin. The peach stone granules act as an exfoliating and smoothing agent. Even though it contains a few different exfoliating ingredients, it’s not as rough as you might think. It’s actually pretty gentle but you can still feel it scrubbing your skin, so I don’t know if you’d enjoy if you have extremely sensitive skin. The consistency is also very creamy so I think that helps to make it gentle. love the scent, I couldn’t help but open the jar a few times right after I received it to smell it again, and I think it smells even better in the shower. I also like that you can smell it after getting out of the shower, leaving a nice scent on the skin.

I don’t have super dry skin as I always make sure to moisturize my body after a shower but I have noticed how hydrated and soft my skin feels when I use this scrub. I use it about once a week and a little goes a long way so this jar will last me some time. If you have dry skin, I think this would work great to hydrate it and if you don’t have dry skin, like me, the good thing is that it doesn’t leave the skin feeling oily.

Massage a large handful onto wet skin in circular motions for a natural, flawless finish: perfect to use as a pre-tanning treatment! Rinse thoroughly.

Overall, I love this scrub. I can’t think of anything negative about it other than it’s hard to find at Winners so I gotta make sure to buy a few when they have them. For a 100 ml body scrub that is affortable and actually works, it’s totally worth a try. I have a couple more of Dirty Works scrubs to try when it run out of this one and I hope they’re just as good.

Thank you for reading and have a great week!

SinfulShine – Karnival

This week I’m wearing the Kylie Signature Collection by SinfulShine in the shade Karnival. I don’t wear nail polish often, but I really like SinfulShine and SinfulColors polishes. They last longer on my nails than other polishes. They do start chipping within a few days, but other nail polishes chip the next day for me. I do wear a top coat but I use my hands a lot at work and at home.

This pearlescent maroon shade is perfect for a masquerade! Bold, Vibrant, Must-have color. Toluene, Formaldehyde & DBP free.

Karnival is a dark purple shade with tiny sparkles. I think the sparkles make this shade really pretty and different. I’m into darker shades lately, i find this one a bit too day but, I think this shade compliments my skin tone nicely.

Have you guys tried the Kylie Collection by SinfulShine? Thank you for reading!

Dirty Works Detox Mud Mask Review!

Hi guys!

Today I’m reviewing the Dirty Works detox mud mask. I received so many goodies from this brand for Christmas and I’ve been enjoying some of them. I love face masks, they are so relaxing but also beneficial for the skin. I am looking to try new skin care products this year and hopefully I will find great products for my skin. I have been using this mask for a few weeks now, and I’d like to share my thoughts.

An intensive and boosting face mask to deeply cleanse and replenish your skin. Combining superfruit extract of Blueberry, skin clearing Willow and detoxifying Green Clay and Kaolin to help draw out impurities, skin will be left feeling refreshed and glowing!

This masks retails for about $8 CAD at Winners. It contains 100 ml of products and since you only need to apply a thin layer, you will have more than enough to last for some time. It has a nice fruity scent which I enjoy, but it’s not overpowering. This mask dries fast, and I actually like that for when I don’t have time to lounge for too long but I still want to treat my skin. It’s easy to wash off with some luke warm water. It doesn’t irritate my skin or give me any redness, my face glows, looks fresh and feels soft afterwards.

Apply a thin layer of Mask to cleansed face, neck and décolleté. Relax for 10 minutes while it dries. Splash with warm water to remove, or wipe clean with a damp flannel, and gently pat skin dry. Use once or twice a week, or when your skin is in need of some extra TLC!

This has been a great addition to my skin care routine. I use it about 2 to 3 times a week. It’s a very gentle mask and it doesn’t dry out my skin. I have combination skin, and even then some masks can be drying, not this one. I believe it would work great for anyone with sensitive skin as it gently cleans and refreshes the skin. I think this is a perfect mask for anyone with a budget but still looking to give your skin a nice treat. For the great price, I think is worth giving it a try.

Thank you guys for reading! Have a nice weekend!

Sephora Haul!

Hi guys!

I’ve been wanting to go to Sephora for a few weeks now, the weather has been awful and I’ve been working a lot but I finally had time to go in. My brother gave me a gift card for Christmas, I want to try more skin care and hair products so I was excited to spend it.

Olehenriksen A Brighter Truth Set:

I’ve always been curious about this brand. I’ve heard good things about it but find the products pricey. I figured this set would be perfect as it has a few different products. I am also looking for a new face cream so I wanted to try one of theirs.  It retails for $42 CAD

This set contains:
– 2 oz/ 50 mL Face the Truth Cleanser
– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Truth Serum
– 1 oz/ 30 mL Truth Advanced Moisturizing Crème

A three-piece travel set of radiance-revealing skincare essentials, infused with vitamin C and potent antioxidants to help brighten, visibly firm, and hydrate

Christophe Robin :
I don’t think I’ve ever of this brand or even recall anyone even talking about it. When I first grabbed it, I thought it was a face scrub, it wasn’t until I was in line to pay that I realized it was a shampoo. I decided to grab it anyways because I thought it was really interesting and it could really help my scalp. The mini size retails for $24CAD

A detoxifying shampoo enriched with sea salt to deeply cleanse and soothe sensitive and/or oily scalps while delivering essential hydration to the scalp.

Kat Von D Mini Baking Duo:
One of the items I knew I wanted to get was the Kat Von D setting powder. I couldn’t find the loose or pressed powder, turns out they were sold out. I was matched with her powder foundation, thinking I’d be happy to try it out as well. But I ended up finding the mini set while waiting in line, so I grabbed it, and left the foundation at the register. It also comes with the lock it concealer, Im not crazy about the Lock it foundation but I will try it out. They only had them in the shade Medium 27 so I was lucky. It retails for $30CAD

I also got two samples. The Nars Natural Radiant foundation and a small sample of Drunk Elephant Protine-Polypeptide cream. I was given the Nars foundation in medium shades but all the shades inside said light. I tried the darkest shade, light 5 but it was way too light so I won’t be testing them. I am enjoying the D.E.cream though, but it’s really expensive so I’m not quite sure if I’d purchase the full size.

That’s all I got at Sephora this time. Do you guys have any recommendations for a face cream? What’s your go to? Thank you guys so much for reading! Have a great week!
