Tarte Sample Set Review

Hi guys! Today I’m gonna be talking about a sample set I recently got from tarte. I had never tried any of this items and I added them to get free shipping and I figured it would be cool to try them out.

Tarte rainforest of the sea mist: I actually enjoy this mist. I like the lemon like scent, I don’t find it too overpowering, it makes me feel so refreshed in the morning. I’m not sure if I will be purchasing the full size bottle though as I already own a cheaper setting spray by sephora and I don’t think it makes a huge difference. I’m not really that picky about setting sprays, and the sephora one already makes my makeup last much longer than before so I might just save some money and stick with what works for now.

Tarte rainforest of the sea cleansing gel: I didn’t mind this cleansing gel but I didn’t really find it any different. It makes my skin feel refreshed and clean but other products do this as well.

Tarte drink of h2o moisturizer: I was pretty excited to try this as I have never tried a high end face cream before, but was pretty disappointed. And it’s not even how the product performs but I can’t stand the smell. It’s a much stronger citrusy-minty scent that almost reminds me of vic vapor rub, so it was a little odd rubbing it on my face, I almost thought that it was gonna start tingling like vic vapor rub does. I tried it twice but I just didn’t like the scent. I might keep using it just so I don’t waste the product but I’m definitely not repurchasing it.

Lights camara lashes mascara: I was so disappointed on this mascara. After hearing so many people raving about it I was pretty excited to try it. This thing flakes off on me all day long. I tried it and after about 5 minutes of putting it on, I checked my makeup before heading out the door and I had flakes all underneath my eyes and cheeks. And whenever I checked throughout the day, I had little flakes here and there. I did like how my eyelashes look but for the price I would expect it to stay on my eyelashes. Definitely not for me.

Tarte bb cream and 12 hour primer: I really enjoyed this bb cream. I didn’t try it as a primer to be honest. The texture is very creamy, not runny at all. I use it for when I need to get ready quickly if we need to go somewhere and I don’t feel like putting on too much makeup. I think it’s more of a tinted moisturizer as is very light and has little coverage, but it evens out the skin. I quickly apply a very small amount and rub it in with my fingers. I do set it with powder only and it lasts all day. I’m strongly considering purchasing the full size bottle. I don’t wear it every day and I still have tons since you only need very little of it, so the $45 CAD size should last me quite a while.

And that’s it! Overall I’m glad I gave this set a try. I’m a big fan of tarte products but I didn’t have much luck with the rainforest of the sea colection, I had high hopes for it; same with the mascara. I’m glad I at least found one product that works great for me.

Have you tried any of these products? Thank you for reading and have a great week!

I love the setting spray, but I wasn’t a fan of the cleansing gel or h2o moisturizer. The rainforest of the sea collection really disappointed me!
